Helping You Tap Into Your Inner WisdomHi there, I’m Jaime (she/her)!
I believe that understanding your own story enables you to find clarity, self-acceptance, and a deeper sense of purpose and meaning in your life.
My Story
Hi there, I’m Jaime Cara, a Seattle-based therapist offering online therapy throughout Washington State. I know what it’s like to feel out of sync with yourself—moving through life trying hard, yet still feeling unseen or misunderstood. There have been times when I didn’t know who I was beyond the roles I played or the expectations I tried to meet.
For much of my life, I shaped myself around what others needed, often at the expense of my own needs. It took time and intention to notice how I had been living on autopilot and to start tuning in to what felt true and meaningful for me.
The path that brought me here hasn’t been simple. It has been shaped by life’s challenges, including grief, burnout, chronic pain, body acceptance, and major life transitions. I’ve learned to be with discomfort, step out of old patterns, and soften the harsh ways I once spoke to myself.
Choosing to live more authentically has helped me reconnect with parts of myself I once kept hidden. I’ve learned to pause, reflect, and make choices aligned with my values, rather than the expectations I absorbed from others. I continue to practice this every day.
This work is not about fixing yourself. It is about reconnecting with who you’ve always been. My personal journey shapes how I show up with clients. I know how vulnerable it can feel to turn toward the parts of ourselves we’ve ignored or misunderstood. I also know the freedom and peace that can come from living in a way that feels aligned and true.
The Power of Lived Experience
I have wanted to be a therapist since I was young, and I know what it’s like to be in the chair of the client. The powerful experience I had working with a compassionate, insightful, and supportive therapist only reaffirmed my calling in life.
For over a decade, I have dedicated myself to learning various modalities to support clients including counseling, body image work utilizing a Health at Every Size Lens (HAES), mindfulness, somatic practices, life coaching, and EMDR.
My commitment to my healing journey and my desire to support people through life’s challenging obstacles continues to inspire and inform my work as a therapist.
Therapist Me
I’m not your sit-back-and-listen therapist. I mean, I listen but I also enjoy collaborating with clients. Consider me an active co-creator in your journey. The support I provide is customized to your needs and lived experience. I try to create a space where you can feel comfortable being yourself. And I love bringing humor into the therapeutic space.
Some of my specialties are: anxiety, later-in-life ADHD diagnosis, life transitions, self-acceptance/self-compassion, and trauma. I also support clients around body acceptance/body neutrality through a Health at Every Size and systemic lens.
Our work together will help you better understand your patterns, emotional landscape, and how you want to show up in the world. I feel privileged beyond belief that I can help empower, affirm, and support my clients.
I’m a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and Certified Life Coach. I hold a degree in Spiritual Studies, a master’s degree from Antioch University Seattle, completed a 120-hour life coach training program, and hold a certificate in EMDR.
